i have this pair of jeans that i haven't been able to put a leg into since 1997. through numerous cleanings, purges, and moves, i've held onto them, because some day i was going to wear them again. i believed that due to the normal shifting of the pelvic bones that happens as we age, and my numerous failures at weight loss that i would never really fit into them again.

today i buttoned every. last. button. size 13 levi's 501s.

they're a little tighter than i'd like them, but i can actually move and sit in them. i started tearing through the closet, pulling all the things i hadn't gotten rid of because mom had made them for me. everything fit. down to the chili pepper dress and the rose-pattern fishnets. i nearly cried.

i'm wearing the Katherine Hepburn pants to work tomorrow.

in other news, Douglas has not responded to my phone message or its request for IM or email in lieu of a call. i'm hoping he was away this weekend.

the diet is succeeding, despite the influence of Satan ;)

we had dinner at the grown ups' table on Friday, even if we did make the lounge singer do Bohemian Rhapsody. he was quite game, i nearly cried with laughter, and i think he got five bucks' tip from everyone at the table. the food was good too.

Saturday was super-loungey, slept in, got groceries & videos. i watched stuff C would never sit through while he wrote - Far From Heaven )and The Business of Fancydancing )
finally saw Alien on the big screen, and met [livejournal.com profile] raevnos in the process.
today was about dim sum brunch, tasty and "gelatinous, " winetasting, peacocks, and doughnut temptation. we got some vitamins and muffin mix on the way home, and then slept until five or so. i may be staying home from work tomorrow, depending. can't breathe through my nose anymore, even with drugs.
i'm reading this nifty little book called The Fox Woman more magic realism than fantasy about a kitsune in love with the man who owns the estate she grew up on. seems to be just post-Genji in setting...layered silk robes, animals, poetry, sex. good so far. i'm thinking it would make great bunraku or maybe noh, with a kyogen as brother fox and a great dance for our heroine's journey to get a human skull so that she can work her transformation from fox to human. yeah.

Dunkin' Donuts. You know you want one.

C and i slept late, stayed in bed later, and then went off to Larry's for low-carb pancake mix and other sugar-free delights. pancakes with extra butter, and then Returner at the Uptown. apparently there's a church service there sunday am and they were fighting to get them out to sell tickets and open up for the 12:30 show.
the movie was much better than i expected (but my expectations were low) Terminator meets ET meets The Professional. the kid is not cloying, or too much of a smart ass. it was not entirely predictable. it was not dubbed. many bullets and blood splatters. fun.
i made sugar-free jello! C is cooking up a week's worth of breakfast sausage.

Sleep that knits up the ravell'd sleeve of care,
The death of each day's life, sore labor's bath,
Balm of hurt minds, great nature's second course,
Chief nourisher in life's feast.

last night left me so knackered i couldn't tell cervantes from armendariz at work, so i came home.
i slept this afternoon and it wasn't enough, & decided to skip chorus rehearsal tonight in favor of lounging. kept the tv off and made chicken smothered in salsa con queso and steamed green beans (seven net carbs). then i read The Crystal Cave to C while he fixed tomorrow's lunch. i forgot how good it is.
