After tomorrow's move day is good. I am not-entirely-sane person right now. And our schedule is busy. We don't know yet Mark's Home Health PT schedule. I may need some heavy moving stuff help. (awww, Kai just rolled over on his back, asking for pets. I am beset by cuteness). After Wednesday we should talk again.

I'm far more likely to send the debtor to collections.

As with monetary debt collection, I do allow for extenuating circumstances, but if the debtor has the ability to pay, and just can't be arsed, they're not going to have that debt magically forgiven.

I forgive pretty easily most of the time. I've been taught that it would be better not to take offense to begin with. The things I don't forgive are not things that can be paid back. They don't have a trade price. When I write off, it's in a dead-to-me way, judging by the examples I can think of.

So what is forgiveness, to me? That *is* something to think about.

Here's what I think.

If you don't forgive people for the injury(s) they cause you, you can end up carrying a lot of rocks on your back. After all, you don't know the hows or whys of what's behind their behavior. Assumptions are stressful. I try not to make them. I don't always succeed. I sucketh often, but I try.

However, forgiving someone doesn't mean you have to trust them. If someone does you an injury, you can forgive them, and still protect yourself from future harm.

Being friendly doesn't mean you're friends.

Yeah. This is a hard definition to use if the way that you got to ceasing to expect to be repaid was by sawing the other party off at the knees.

It's sort of unreasonable to expect repayment from someone you've thrown out of your life. I have a hard time of thinking of this as forgiveness.
