i've largely avoided the internets today. i'm not interested in whatever political stupidity is going on.

i went dog walking, then silent writing and lunch with varina8, and then a largely spontaneous gathering of my knittas where i spread the gospel of The Great British Bake-off.

it was a beautiful day.

i needed that.

silent writing
what sorts of things are you silently writing these days?

typically i'm doing research or designing a thing (for example, one time i drafted a pattern for a knitting project bag) or writing a long comment that gets eaten. it's mostly about sitting quietly with coffee and a pastry and my friends who really are writing fiction or getting writing work-work done.

C calls it church.

A friend of mine in Portland who is a PhD student organizes something like that too, she calls it "Shut Up and Write". It seems immensely appealing.
