if you don't usually go all blahblahblah Ginger when i mention that soccer thing:

$10 general admission tickets*, March 11: proceeds go to Boys and Girls Club of Washington State, Save the Children, Seattle SCORES and Washington Youth Soccer.

it's a "friendly" match vs the Portland Timbers (who hate us enough to have an "Any Club Except Seattle" org and "FVCK SEATTLE" scarves) and has the potential to be very entertaining on and off the field.

might be the last time this year it's easy to get a single-game ticket at Qwest Field.

*kiddos under 5 are free, but people tend to stand the entire match, so unless they're small enough to wear in a sling i wouldn't bring them.

the animal highlight of Thanksgiving at the zoo was seeing the wee bushbabies on display in the Day & Night exhibit. they were rocketing around their enclosure like superballs when they weren't trying valiantly to climb the glass parts of the walls. they're all limpid cartoon eyes and teeny ears and teeny hands. definitely worth a trip to the zoo before they get old enough to mellow out.

my new shirt fits. it's in the wash now, and will get a good ironing. my shoes are polished. i have black socks.

tonight is the first performance of Singing the Divine. standard concert announcement info )

i'm feeling pretty excited, and tense about every damn snowflake i see outside.

last night was our tech rehearsal. (wherein the chorus did well, the guest musicians did well, and the venue administration gets an F-.) we sound amazing. having the harp for the first time was distracting in a completely wonderful way (our accompanist had pipe organ samples to play on his keyboard, so i had a reasonable idea of how that might work.) for the first time i want a recording. i absolutely hate hearing myself sing, even buried in a well-blended section, but i wish i could hear what the audience hears.
the toughest thing for me when the music really really works is that i start to tear up. the physiology of crying is not particularly compatible with sound production or reading music. i *think* the Chichester Psalms is still demanding enough that i won't have the brain cells left to realize what i'm hearing. the harp and the top register on the pipe organ though...damn.
anyway, worth the ticket price, beyond any obligation or disinterest anyone may have in seeing me or the rest of the gang.

please please please let the weather be good tonight.
