so, i've been involved in this journal-crossing discussion of f-list philosophy, and why posts are public or private. i've got a theory...it could be bunnies.

what i noticed from an unscientific lurking sample (hey, lindylousmith!) is that with one exception, the people on my f-list who have done the directions site meme live something like more than 8 hours' drive from their place of birth. contariwise, my sample's group, with one exception, are under two hours, most under 30 minutes.

here's mine.

No, it started with the insanity/"I'm gonna marry this girl." But I got better at talking to strangers quite quickly, and now can do it almost competently.

Good point, good question. I noticed the same thing. Maybe when you are uprooted, or uproot yourself, you become accustomed to meeting strangers, and it just becomes more natural to do.

Maybe we should shake those Edmontonians up. {winks}
