ironymaideni'm trying to organize my inner life, and it's like trying to draw a circle on an etch-a-sketch. i've had a headache all day today, assistant #1 was fussy, and it's playtest night, so the bus home and an empty house.
on the way to the bus i called my Mom (who has been living out of a hotel in upstate NY while Dad's there for work) and caught her nearly back home, at my sister's house squeezing the grandkids. i got to talk to my niece and my Dad as well. nice, especially since i could share the story of the Ricoh. my employer is starting to build a custom copy business, and today there was a large job in progress. our owner had failed to commit on the demo color copier we were using, so it was taken away this afternoon. tee hee.
upon arriving home: a package from my brother, containing a tiny red lava lamp night lite, and a phone message from the PM at Book-It Rep offering me a gig.
the night lite is burbling away happily, and i am probably not doing the show. i called them back to find out the schedule, etc. and they want me at noon tech rehearsals from next week until opening, which i can't do; the reason for the short notice is that the hours are a deal breaker for other people too (there's money involved, but it's really a pat-on-the-head, not a salary). they may return to me if no one can make the noon call, and asked to retain my resume for the future. (that resume has been in a drawer there for over a year. i've never encountered any place that actually looked in the resume file. they must be in real trouble.) it was cool to be asked.
