ironymaidenhand quilting requires a small amount of mental focus, which is why little old ladies get together in church basements and gossip as they work. i like to play DVDs if i don't have someone to talk with; this works pretty well unless the film is subtitled.
i've been having trouble with my Netflix queue lately. i lined up a long list of films that i was interested in seeing without considering what they would require of me. dubs, especially of Asian films, tend to drive me mad. i want to hear the actors' voices and read a translation that is accurate rather than rendered to fit lip motion; many of the films i want to see don't even offer an english soundtrack. i'm not very good at balancing my consumption - i add things in waves and hate to rearrange them. perhaps i'll get The Cuckoo and In the Mood for Love in on the laptop while i'm traveling.
