What made you decide on the low-carb diet over a different diet?
this time? prior success. i lost 35lbs and i kept the weight off for a long time- until i started living on coffee and cupcakes and stopped walking to work every day.
originally it was because C's parents had great success, including lowering his father's cholesterol and blood pressure. after the initial bit it's basically about eating less processed food and keeping a tight rein on sugar and starch. it seems more difficult or weird when i eat out because so much restaurant food is stretched out with bread/rice/pasta. my meals at home are a meat and double vegetables (instead of my mom's traditional meat veggie potato), stir fry with no bed of rice, omelettes, that sort of thing. it's the only diet i've ever tried where i don't feel hungry or sugar crash and very rarely get cravings. it's extremely satisfying to eat pudding made with heavy cream and have bacon for breakfast. i shouldn't have beer, but distilled alcohol is just fine.
and because of the chemical thing that's going on, if i eat something that's really high in sugars i get hung over.
