since it rained today, i lost approximately four hours of work to getting the Salvation Army guys to take my old stuff. the rain, you see, messes up traffic and slows them down. because rain is so rare here that no one can drive in it. i know it's an old complaint, but it doesn't make it untrue.
this has left a miraculous amount of open space in our apartment, and i'm looking forward to filling a little of it with a bigger, better table, with real chairs, suitable for dinner guests, games, and big sewing projects. a coworker turned me on to the Cort liquidation warehouse, and i've even got a set i like picked out, if it's not all coated in plastic or something.
the in-laws are here, so it's pouring. nobody in C's family has ever seen the sun in Seattle. my family. of course, thinks it's some kind of paradise with roses the size of dinner plates. they brought me a whole carryon bag full of Tastykakes, so i expect to be repaying my debt to
hgross and bringing
gyngersnap into my thrall. "what is patriotism, but the love of food one ate as a child?" except that one of the things is a new product, which kind of defeats the purpose. i don't love them because they are superior, but because they are a fond memory and unavailable here. oh, Butterscotch Krimpets, you will send my ribs into hiding, but i will love you all the same.
C is really truly happy to see the units, now that the trepidation has passed.
tomorrow, the Market and Bainbridge ferry. Sunday will probably be dim sum and Pioneer Square...
i'll be difficult to reach until about the 20th. just saying.
