but it chafes so....
Sep. 26th, 2003 11:55 pmwent to underworld with some other denizens of
seattle, and a good time was had by all, even if the film was candy.
while others have listed some plot problems, mine were all about emotional reality. C and i kept up the analysis on the walk home from the monorail, and we realized that my suspension of disbelief issues are usually about human behavior. spoilers ahead.
killing Viktor should have been something that Celine hesitated to do . you don't kill dad because some dishonest guy you hate tells you a nasty story about him. you at least dither.
we establish early on that she's driven in her duty to kill werewolves, and she knows that michael is done for, so there has to be a greater motivation for her change of heart. cause she couldn't drown, and once the plot was revealed, there ws no reason to keep him alive for information.
but on the other side...
if werewolf virus kills vampire virus and vice versa, then the likelihood of the survival of a fetus would be lower than an Rh factor conflict. no way that pregnancy wouldn't have ended in spontaneous abortion. and usually blood-borne diseases can be passed through sex, so how could they have survived unprotected sex over a long period of time anyway?
and the werewolves were totally Crinos, although, as C pointed out, that's a Howling ripoff anyway. i think my appetite is whetted for a Blade/Ginger Snaps/Dog Soldiers marathon event.
loved those costumes though.
and why shoot through the floor if you could stick to the cieling?
the opening scene i wanted would have had the regular humans in slow motion or statues, while the immortals were running around at normal speed fighting. would have been a cheap way to start showing off that these characters were something beyond human. spend a blood point on celerity.
why were the werewolves bestial and the vampires never? hate that. no matter how romantic, they are still driven by blood. would feeding have upped the rating?
time for bed.
oh and i saw the rocky horror show tonight...but that can wait until tomorrow.
