With a Swiss Army knife
May. 24th, 2014 11:24 amHaving my first concessions sandwich. Fortunately the ones at the uptown are pretty good.
Remote Control
Mongolian small-town dreamer tries his luck in the city. His imagination blends with reality in charming ways. One of those sweet movies that I'd only watch at the festival. (SIFF has made me a sucker for Mongolia and Turkey.)
Of Horses and Men
A Fool tried to warn the passholders away from this one.
I assume because two horses die, and the one death scene was so long and graphic that it caused walkouts. Other than that, it was droll and charming.
It had a short that showed afterward, which was about Icelandic horses and horse culture. It explained a lot of what we saw in the film. I would have preferred seeing it first, but having it afterward was a nice palate cleanser.
Getting home was a pain in the ass. I've designed the rest of my schedule so that I will not have a 9:30 show on Capitol Hill for the rest of the festival.
