A night full of bullet casings

Firestorm
Over-the-top Hong Kong action with tons of bullet casings and a truck of slo-mo pigeons. There were bits at the end that were so preposterous that the audience was in stitches. I had fun but will forget the details. At least there was Andy Lau.

Mystery Road
Murder mystery set in an Australian shit town, with an aboriginal detective who is struggling with a return to his home town. Lots of dirt and racism, with a tasty performance by Hugo Weaving as a morally ambiguous cop. Sometimes the dialect and slang impaired understanding and the pace was languid. I still liked it. Always good to be reminded that every country has their rednecks and meth labs.

And now I have this image of a semi hauling down I=5 with its backdoors swinging open and an enormous flocks of pigeons flying out of it and trailing off behind.... :-) Glad the flick was fun. I know that oldmangrumpus is looking forward to it. I'll be skipping it myself.
