2. Your earliest memory of reading or being read to
there was no time before being read to. when i was small there were six people in the household and five of them could read. i always had someone who was willing to pick me up and read to me. if it wasn't a picture book, it was whatever they happened to be reading at the time. i still love the sound of being read to, regardless of content.
probably the first picture book i can remember being read to me is Dr. Seuss' ABC. (my siblings can still recite sections of it.) i remember the book, anyway. who was holding me and reading is unclear.
another one that sticks is my brother reading me a story from Night Shift when i was inappropriately small - five, maybe? i think i was way into green army men at the time...and i was all fascination and zero horror.
