i have a five questions meme to answer. one of the questions has a link in it (without which the question makes less sense), so i used view source on the page to copy the html.

did you know that lj lists the variables for all possible userpic choices (by keyword) with your published comment? since i have 104 icons, there appear to be 70+ lines of code for a one-sentence comment.

i don't have enough skills to know for sure that there's a better way, but damn, there must be a better way.

if it's my set of 5, i'd have to say that the question only makes marginally less sense, and there'd be ways to deal with that. (and "view source" to get linkytext? i usually just right-click copy/paste.)

that being said, having just pulled up a view source, yes, that is weird. as you say, there otta be a better way.

ah. i meant specifically to get links, one can right-click (or whatever the equivalent on macs is—one button mouses are silly) and select "copy link". that doesn't bring all the .html with, of course. but, as you note, copying LJ's .html source brings a lot of excess cruft along with—i never do it.
