Ebert sings the blues

i followed a link to Roger Ebert's downer of a new years post (no link, i don't want to read it again and i'm not making other people sad) to discover in the sidebar that the man has recently seen Sita Sings the Blues. he loved it, of course. (as did i when i saw it at siff.

Nina Paley now has the kernel of a self-distribution plan. no one will distribute it for her, and she is caught in a tangle over the rights to the music. damn, i want a DVD of this film.

I'm glad to hear she has a plan, since ever since I missed it at SIFF (kicking self again) I've been searching for it. And not finding it. Here's to Nina Paley's success in 2009!
