via multiple folks, (this version of the text from [livejournal.com profile] varina8):
In an upcoming interview with Katie Couric to be aired this week, Sarah Palin is unable to name any Supreme Court case other than Roe v. Wade. (Addendum by Miss M: It was any case that she disagreed with, but still. She couldn't think of Dred Scott? And she - or her staff - issued a press release disagreeing with a recent decision.)

The Rules: Post info about ONE Supreme Court decision, modern or historic, to your lj. (Any decision, as long as it's not Roe v. Wade.)

Note to Non-U.S. Peeps: It should be noted that, in fairness to the American electorate, most Americans can name more than one U.S. Supreme Court case off the top of their heads. So, the fact that Palin can only name one is simply appalling.

a relatively recent favorite: Lawrence v. Texas. Petitioners’ right to liberty under the Due Process Clause gives them the full right to engage in private conduct without government intervention. consensual sex between adults in the privacy of their own home is none of the government's business.

One I detested: Bowers v. Hardwicke. Bleh.

It's semi-hard to believe (for me) that Rumsfeld v. Hamdan didn't spring to mind.

It's only been in the news about half a billion times in the last couple of years.

Maybe not in the papers she reads though...

I think you may be being overly generous to our fellow citizens, though.

How about the worst decision ever? Gore v. Bush

I will keep collecting data, but so far I'm 0 for 5 with my coworkers.

Question: "Name or describe any supreme court decision that isn't Roe v. Wade"

Two answers that were Amendments to the Constitution. One answer of "I don't do politics" and "They're all corrupt, so it doesn't matter."

More to follow.

in fairness

I had to look up the specific case. Miranda V. Arizona, 1966. You Really DO have the right to remain silent, etc. (and, really, i was trying for something that i didn't have to learn in Jr. High School Social Studies class).
Fucking Oy.

Miranda was the first one to spring to my mind too. I would think that anyone who has ever seen a cop show would be able to think of that one.
