every film shown at SIFF Cinema during the festival begins with a trailer for My Winnipeg, and this damn earworm song about Winnipeg.

“Winnipeg, Winnipeg, Wonderful Winnipeg/It’s no Eden that you would see/But it’s home sweet home to me.”

i often work out earworms by listening to all of the song, but i can't find a source for it online since (surprise) "Wonderful" is used in conjunction with Winnipeg all the time. anyone heard this song elsewhere, or is it something they put together for the film?

Indeed, searching on the lyrics you posted turns up exactly (a) this post, and (b) this review of the movie ('The film opens with a ditty called "Wonderful Winnipeg" with the lyrics, "It's no Eden that you would see/But it's home sweet home to me."')

A little more digging got me this review:
'My Winnipeg opens with a montage of newsreel and a bit of canned cheer in the form of the '50s booster ballad "Wonderful Winnipeg."'
Which doesn't give you the whole song, but does say that it wasn't original for this movie.

I saw this a couple days ago, and if I remember correctly, the credits listed "Wonderful Winnipeg" as 'courtesy of superoldies.com" (and indeed, the site has it listed here - http://www.superoldies.com/eaglediscography.html). Maybe you could email the site's operator and see if you can work something out with him...

mystery song...
