i had a nice day yesterday. it was just a good saturday. we slept in, then walked down to Top Pot on 5th Ave and had really fine doughnuts and coffee, although it reminded me again that i just can't take much sugar anymore. i know my teeth thank me, and i'm down to 152, which is approaching high school weight. and i was still growing in college, so that is perhaps a little scary. i like the wall of windows and all the books.

then we went to the library and got tax forms. 1040A again. i picked up a stack of books on plants and container gardening. these nice days have me rally itching to plant my flower box. my goal is to avoid goddamned impatiens. i had to water mom's every summer and i don't want to look at another one for a long time. talked to strangers in the elevator. i love seattle libraries. we're approaching another closure week and it really pisses me off.

then we went to the Don't Amend rally. we didn't stay the whole time, but i saw lots of people i knew and i missed others who were there, like [livejournal.com profile] raevnos. it was my first Westlake Park political thingy. it was fun. there were some great signs, and while the quality of the speakers i heard varied, their logic was good. plus HD had a great reception from the crowd and the synergy of the upcoming concert title "My Big Fat Gay Wedding" and the event was serendipitous. C is still singing Life Uncommon :) we were really admiring an activist couple in matching kilts, jackets, and sporrans. kilts - sexy, manly, and ....gay. we left to do our shopping and drifted by again on the way home; it was great to see the ladies with the "we were married 5/4/01" signs on the street and smile and wave. i like to see happy lovers, no matter who they are...i used to say "happy lovers burn in hell" when i was in college, but i don't know that i ever meant it.

we had lunch at Jasmine, which is a new Thai-Moroccan place. what the hell. their chicken broccoli was in a sauce that i didn't recognize, but adored, and C had a really tender Panang curry that he liked even though he's a coconut-hater. $6.50 for a generous plate and table service. i'm proud to say i ate it all with chopsticks and was pretty graceful. then we continued the last days of Crystal Meats sausage countdown, got a half dozen eggs, heavy cream, and topped the backpack with veggies, strawberries, and oranges. we walked home and then browsed library books and napped!

i let C pick out my clothes and then we made dinner, ate and went to King Lear. [livejournal.com profile] frabjousdave saved us some seats with his subscriber early entry powers and the red coat. C encouraged me to enter the Vespa raffle. part of me would be delighted to get it and flaunt it, since D has been buying chances all season. actually i'd probably be afraid to drive it in traffic. the production was quite good and raised some questions that are going to force me to read the play again. i'm not sure i've done that in it's entirety since the days of Larna Kay. still thinking about those gobs of eyeball hitting the stage. eeew. the Cabaret was hysterical and C was really pleased with it. looks like SSC is in trouble with the liquor board, because they have a license application up and are no longer offering seatside service. there's actually a sign that says the drinks are a donation premium, like an NPR totebag. the cabaret makes me consider going to midsummer. almost.

the three of us hit Pesos late night, which was noisy, but we had a booth, good table service, and no smoke. love those $3 & $4 appetizers. and the house margueritas. more people next time, i think, although i like keeping numbers small enough to hold one conversation instead of having to fragment into little groups or take turns speaking in an unspoken Robert's Rules.

nothing happened today, except that i caught up on netflix movies and napped, unfortunately at the same time.
