C and i went to our very first caucus yesterday. it was poorly advertised and happened in a location different from our polling place and hell-and-gone from home. still, the line was around the block and i'm really pleased about it. the best part was that there was no seattle-style "lets all agree" and "this needs more discussion." perhaps there have to be parking ticket threats floating over more meetings here.

we went 2 delegates for Dean and 2 for Kerry. the simple majority was for Dean, but Kerry had the larger half of the odd delegate. i like to think that's how he won the state. i think in all this talk of electability we've missed the power of real desire for revolution; the important thing to me is that Edwards stays out...i did the presidentmatch.com thing and for me his rating (no matter how i juggled priorities) was just above the incumbent. Shrub has certainly roused the nation from apathy.

of course, the other thing i love is that in WA i still have no formal party registration, although i'm sure i'm now on a million mailing lists. i wonder if i can get into both next time...i firmly believe in choosing a poor candidate for your enemies. however, i'll vote for a Republican who embraces keeping government out of our private lives as well as our businesses...and chooses agriculture over petroleum. fuck fuel cells. we have biodiesel available now, and we produce tremedous amounts of raw and recyclable material NOW that can be used in UNMODIFIED existing vehicles and engines at a greater fuel efficiency that mitigates current processing costs. get your head out of your Texas ass, keep your drill out of ANWR and use the existing resources and prowress of the nation to end our dependence on foreign oil and clean the air. there's a filling station in Ballard. our next car is a Volkswagen.

meanwhile, C finally got some new jeans that fit him. it's a size he hasn't worn since before i met him. i'm in 12's myself (three sizes down) and my saucy new miniskirt perhaps should have been a 10.

i'm being brave and getting rid of the fat clothes. even though i ate pizza last night after an incredible concert. we were standing room only, we sounded great, and i nearly lost it singing "We are Everywhere." every SLGC concert ends with this song, which is a very simple and lovely statement of pride and the basic right to be regular people and live normal lives "we are your sons and your daughters / we are your neighbors and friends...look around you and you'll find us / where no prejudice can bind us...we're proud enough to stand up, and we're strong enough to care"

what is just amazing is to see people in the audience start to stand as the song goes on, from one black lady in the second row, to the entire house...gay, straight, grandma & grandpa...

it had the same feel as singing Gaude Mater Polonia in Poland in the early nineties. excellent, really excellent. i'm excited about the Pride Week concert in June.
