How different is Brit journalism about US elections?

there's a certain remove, and they're mostly interested in how this person will relate to the rest of the world. (anyone but Bush, right now. i think whoever gets elected will have a period of goodwill they can capitalize on or squander on the world stage.) it seems like there's less focus on race, gender, and religion.

factoids:
Wyoming Republicans had a primary January 5th, and Mitt Romney won it. (i didn't even know this happened.)

this is the first election since 1928 with no incumbent president or vice president running
