wow, it's the beginning of the tour. it took three or four songs for them to really pull it together. still glad i went.

also, really dug The Bubble in previews today. great characters, great setting, nice leavening of humor, hot gay sex.

I was sorry that I missed the press screening of The Bubble. I'm hoping to catch it later.

But I'm really, really sorry that I missed out on the Police. Wish I'd bought tickets to that. Would have been cool. I went to Tugboat Annie instead which was quite good. Unbelievably I scored street parking. I was chuffed. :-)

Street parking? Wow. For us it was the Mercer garage. Just to see how much our parking pass saved us, we've been recording the garage's rate each time we enter. The $15 event rate put us $10 over what we paid for the pass. Sure, we could find cheaper parking if we looked hard, but looking lazy is nice.

I couldn't believe the garage was charging $15.00! I'm too cheap to pay that. I was also too cheap to pay for the parking pass.

metro FTW. i've spent a total of $5 on parking for the festival and never missed a screening.

Metro over the bridge doesn't work as well. It's fast and cheap, but runs infrequently. In combination with our parking pass, it's been great for avoiding insane Pacific Place fees. (Actually, Pacific Place isn't bad for one movie, but it's really ugly for a longer stay.)

I don't know what FTW stands for. I know I should use the bus system but I just don't like to. It's too slow for one thing. I actually haven't paid much for parking this year either. I'm cheap!

FTW = for the win. i have a bus pass from work, so it really is a no cost option.
the only trip i can't make in good enough time on metro is from SIFF cinema to the Neptune. (so i don't schedule that transition back to back.) i do have my husband drop me off at morning screenings on the weekends, and i arrange to have the car if i'm seeing a late show on Capitol Hill...the night service from there to home is achingly slow. otherwise i've been really happy with the bus. i'd rather read my book at the bus stop than look for street parking or cough up the money for a parking lot. the money i've saved has easily paid for lunches, dinners, and lattes between films. i treasure the time to read and think about films instead of thinking about driving.
i think there's a kind of zen to using the bus, and it comes from daily practice. when planning for it isn't a regular part of life it can feel onerous, and i'm lucky that i live in a neighborhood with good service.

Yeah, I don't really use the bus very often. I work night shift and so using the bus to go to and from work is not a good option for me.
