gods, i need to get this out before i have Norwescon stories.
i promised
mimerki i would keep her company at comicon. i'm not a huge fan, and not totally wise in teh ways of comics fandom. this business of asking artists for sketches just blows my mind. (i will not be walking up to any writers this weekend with a notebook for them to jot me a bit of flash fiction.) i really love Top Ten and have taken particular notice of the artist, Gene Ha, since the related Smax story was done with a different artist and just fell flat. he was one of the guests this year. i managed to tell him how much i liked his work while getting a couple collections signed without blushing or stammering.
later that day we were at the CBLDF booth, and while they had great stuff to buy, there was nothing
mimerki wanted - so she bought me a Gene Ha sketch card while i wasn't looking. this led to a lot of blushing and stammering, because i had no freaking idea what to ask for. Ha's "i usually draw you as a superhero" really didn't help. i drew a total blank - i don't play favorites with any media. a comment about my hair steered me out of heroism and into redheaded villainy. behold, me as Poison Ivy.
another random event was getting pictures taken of my chest by one of the guys at the Unshelved booth (i suspect it was one of the artists, but i didn't look too closely at his badge) - i was wearing a t-shirt he wanted to show a friend; he sold me this.
