I once again apologize to every Woman on Planet Earth for having purchased (and read) all 26 of those craptastic crapfests of sado-masochistic chauvenist self flagellation. As a child.
In my defense, the covers looked cool, before they went completely T&A. And the first 4 weren't that bad.
In retrospect, I should have stuck to Tarzan. Really, after the 14th book of this series, it wasn't any fun at all.
For those of you interested in being "watered" these days, Terry Goodkind has graciously allowed you to be "watered" with his craptastic crapfests. Anything after the first book is pure porn.
A surprising number of otherwise perfectly charming guys have read all of them. I don't get it but recognize it as a pretty normal failing amongst geek guys.
I think it's a phase that all geek guys go through. They hit puberty and then they are presented with (and/or subjected to) The Ritual of Gor. It just happens. They can't help it.
if i want to read porn, the Kushiel books are on the shelf at home. one of the great things that the Legends books did for me was to let me know, relatively painlessly, that certain series (like Goodkind) were not going to be worth my time. (then again, Legends II falsely led me to Outlander. for the record, i'm not into romance novels that feature anal rape scenes.)
My dad had a few of them. I sneaked them off of the shelf and read them under the covers in the middle of the night, by flashlight.
They (and the box of old Hustlers in the storage shed) permanently warped my 11-year-old mind. I still freak out a little when I see Boris Vallejo art.
My dad's a nice guy, for what that's worth. The Hustlers were a "gift" from one of his sleazier friends, and I think he thought the Gor books were just standard SFF.
I have been Watered

You have been warned.
