essay contest

eljay is sponsoring a nonfiction essay contest with a $500 prize PLUS a $500 donation to charity. one of the catches is that you can't submit something that you have already posted.(another is US only.) i know there are people on my flist who should give it a try. (*cough*kyooverse*cough*scarlettina*cough*varina8*cough*pixxelpuss*cough*textualdeviance...)

Thanks for thinking of me. I'm not sure that I'm legally allowed to participate in stuff with cash prizes. I might be being paranoid, but it's better than being deported.

if you follow the link, there's legalese in another post in the community. i'm not sure if they're interested in your physical location or your citizenship. i was thinking it was physical location, because you can't participate from Arizona. besides, prize money? you can't buy a lottery ticket either?

I don't know exactly how it works, and the MS lawyers won't return my calls. But I do think I need to get back on top of my writing and essays are a good way to do it. So the writing will happen, even if the contest doesn't.
