just caught the tail end of the nomination announcement. Little Miss Sunshine for Best Picture?!!!??

I didn't see it, but I can't say I'm surprised -- it was the critics' darling; for about three weeks, nobody could talk of anything else.

Erk. It looked completely sappy and I didn't bother going.

Queen wasn't bad but just not ... too many cardboard characters.

It was, imo, an okay, enjoyable-enough-once formulaic comedy, and yes that was the best scene. But it was the year's heavily marketed "underdog" pop fave, and this is the same Academy that only last year dubbed Crash Best Picture. A big-red-nose of a huh? in my book. (And let's not forget the Oliver! debacle of '68.)
