i lose at year-in-review.

one of the things i did do in 2006 was consume epic-scale entertainment. i watched all of Babylon 5, i read the entire Baroque Cycle back to back, and almost all of the Aubrey-Maturin series (finished Blue at the Mizzen this morning, so it doesn't quite count.)

don't know if there's meaning in that.

i'd heard your impressions of b5 mid-season 4. any further comments on it now that you've finished?

season 5 was aimless. i didn't think there was any story left to be told, or that the story threads that were there were handled in a really satisfying fashion. i had a very difficult time finishing watching season 5.

as everyone else has said, the handling of Lanier was particularly poor. i liked the Day of the Dead ep, but by the time i saw it, the hype diminished my enjoyment. i did like the time with the PsiCorps.

Did you enjoy the last episode? Also did you see the movies? or the spinoff crusade?

i liked the last episode fine. i still haven't seen the movies (i may catch up there this year) but i actually watched Crusade before i watched B5. i seem to be one of the few that liked it.

I just got Crusade for christmas and I love it. I wish it would have went longer. I was just getting the feel for the quirky crew and then bam last episode.

The Baroque Cycle back to back? Wow. I had to take a week or two off between volumes, and really struggled to finish it. I like Stephenson, which is the only reason I did, but much of the geekry going on for much of the series wasn't mine.
