no one’s gonna eat your eyes
Sep. 2nd, 2006 11:41 pmbusy day, good day. C has spiffy new shoes - they have stitching that generated the nickname frankenshoes before we even found out if they came in his size. i love his big round toebox.
Jonathan Coulton was splendid. (i swear that he looks like
buhrger with a trim, new rectangular glasses, and caramel highlights. it's in gesture and expression as well as face and build. i can't confirm this for anyone else, since google image searches only come up with ones where he looks more like
matt_ruff.) the Jewelbox was packed, and tropically warm. it was great to witness the conversion of
samildanach and
aprivatefox and be told that our singing along was too good for zombies. ("your motivation is that you want brains.") apparently, the dude gave up his day job a year ago and is living on writing a song every week and getting promoted by word of mouth. he's got a nice voice in person and can actually play and sing at the same time. his stage presence is totally geek-charming, and i'd be his millionaire girlfriend if, yunno, i had millions of dollars and wasn't all married.
samildanach and
aprivatefox ended up sharing a table with a fan who had participated in a plot to deliver a CD of Mandelbrot Set to Benoît Mandelbrot's faculty mailbox; i told the story of how
frabjousdave emailed me First of May and insisted that i play it before i look at the lyrics. (i was at work, in an open seating environment. d'oh.)
on the way home we stopped at Cupcake Royale on the off chance that
scarlettina & co would be there, and a brief but lovely visit ensued. i am tired, and i expect C will be asleep before i hit the update button.

from the few pictures i've managed to find online, it seems not entirely implausible.
"your motivation is that you want brains."
now i want to post this quote, completely out of context, in my office.
