this weekend i got a market basket to help with shopping the farmers' market and frequent small trips to the grocery store.

and today [livejournal.com profile] butterflydrming brought me a butter bell that she and L found at the lavender fest. i've been looking for one for months.

I've seen butter bells before, but I never saw them used with water. Do you have to constantly replace the water?

some friends of mine have one, and no, water replacement isn't necessary on a regular basis. when it's closed, the system is sealed, so evaporation is minimal. and if you're using it properly, it's closed more often than it's open.

unless you're constantly slathering butter all over everything. which is also a valid lifestyle choice.

I think the place to look is in small town craft faires. We found that one in Sequim, from a guy who lives near Gig Harbor. I was planning to keep my eyes open at the Puyallup Fair, too.
