Adam's Apples
line friend: national park ranger who has attended siff from its inception.
seatmates: i got to chat with Bronwyn and Monette for the first time; they were right behind me. their film karma hasn't been as good as mine so far. my mention of This Film is Not Yet Rated led to a spirited discussion of ratings systems with the english guy beside me. he's in town for the week; i'm still new at this talking to strangers thing so i failed to even exchange names. i hope i run into him again. he liked the movie as much as i did and is concerned that it's all downhill from there.
i freaking loved this movie. Adam's Apples is brilliantly funny and thoroughly unpredictable. a neo-nazi is on parole at a rural church. his goal for the stay: to care for the parish apple tree and bake a pie when the apples are ripe. the next day the ravens land and begin eating the apples. it's a black comedy that pulls no punches. as much as i want to quote the hell out of it, i'd rather people saw it. you'll never look at the book of Job the same way again. i saw the last showing, alas. if it comes to town it's not to be missed.
