SIFF tickets go on sale to the general public this Sunday. i'll definitely be at Secret Festival; i'll post the rest of the hitlist when the tickets are in my grubby little hands. they have this handy function called "My Festival" where i can create my own programming grid. i did a lot of squealing last night over Carmen in Khaylitsha and Leonard Cohen I'm Your Man.

of course, i have to schedule around Folklife.

now if the trees would stop fucking so i could breathe enough to sleep, life would be almost perfect.

yeah. i need to get tests run - i never had this much trouble back east, so i'm guessing my body hates some western natives. Claritin doesn't do anything for me, and Benadryl knocks me out in a way that's kind of scary.

My Allergist said that Claritin and Benadryl won't do it. He said Reactine was the best over-the-counter remedy - it stops a reaction in progress, and helps prevent future reactions. Two for one.

it's called zyrtec here and is still a prescription drug. it just means i really should get a diagnosis.

Last medicine that was even remotely effective was Corecedin, the precursor to Claritin from 20 years or so ago.

And it stopped working in 1996.

Pave the earth, I say. Plenty of oxygen in them oceans. These trees aren't as necessary as folks like to think they are. We just need fewer peoples.

If you're having the same trouble this year with allergies, you might try Allegra. It's still prescription in the US, unlike Claritin. It's non-prescription in some countries, sometimes under the name Telfast – I seriously stocked up when we visited Australia. Claritin works for me too, but I like Allegra better overall, in part because I can tune the dose more easily to minimize side effects (mainly excessive dryness for me, at times).
