even though i'm pretty sure BSG has jumped the shark, this made my walk to yoga last night a little more pleasant. i snapped a picture on the cameraphone on the way to the bus today.
it's a term for the point where a television show has passed its peak, in this case referring to an episode of Happy Days where Fonzie jumped sharks on waterskis. the Wikipedia entry is pretty good.
you should decide for yourself. many people are delighted with where the series is headed and how it's being handled.
(although this is the part where i mention that i told C not to waste time/money on Kill Bill vol 2 because it was self-indulgent twaddle. he finally watched a borrowed copy last night and then told me i was right.)
There's a certain spoilery interview with Ron Moore that assuages my primary fear about season 3, but I'm afraid they kind of lost me after I saw Black Market, not to mention came to the realization that there is no master plan whatsoever. Oh first-three-seasons-Joss, how you have spoiled me.
Chiming in with a yes on both aspects of the reply. KB2 was a large disappointment, and in my opinion (not humble at all) the best scenes were deleted.
2.5 peaks one episode after the break, and then slides down fast. Especially with the final episode, which was not billed as 90 minutes. I turned off the set at 57 minutes, like all Fridays previous, because the same dissapointing climax I watch every week had come to depress me. Those last 30 minutes exist in the ether, but from what has been spoiled to me so far, I'm really not impressed. More happens in deleted scenes to advance the plot than the stuff between the credits.
3 will bring joy and light, but I do not expect a 4.

Where were you looking? It was certainly mentioned online at all the various forums. I don't know what they actually said on SciFi, as I'm a bad boy and download so I don't have to wait.
I was watching television, where television shows are shown. I do not visit online forums (even the ones my own company maintains), because the level of intelligence displayed in most is less than that of a slime mold.
The internet makes you stupid. Sci-fi internet makes you worse.

Date: 2006-03-24 06:28 pm (UTC)thus far i've found an interesting divide in opinion on the topic; the fans i know who are writers are especially disappointed in season 2.5.
