yesterday we made sushi at
mimerki's house. she did all the heavy lifting (rice, miso soup, marinated tofu, baked baby eggplants) so all we had to do was roll, eat, and drool. i'm a little less afraid of trying it at home. we skipped the raw fish since transporting it 1.5 hours was a little more engineering than i was up for after a morning yoga class. instead we brought sake, and i spread the wonders of
Momokawa Pearl and
the guilty pleasure of rising sun.
(edited to add: we had another bottle of regular filtered sake for the rising sun)(a rising sun is one part sake to one part plum wine, hot. i've only had it at one sushi place back east so i don't know if it's their invention or if it's so heinous a concept that it could only be served in Wilkes-Barre.) we never cracked the bottle of
Silver. i left all the sake as insurance for another trip, especially since i don't think
prezarian got any before he had to dash.
