drunken gaming

C and i have been trying to make one night during the week a time to play games together. last week it was drunken scrabble, this week Trivial Pursuit. suddenly the neighboring block has become a bit of a mecca, with Sushi Land, Cafe Vita, and Panos Kleftiko being joined by the new bar, The Great Nabob, and the new restaurant, Crow.

i'm in love with the Great Nabob because the wine connaisseur bartender is named Darien, just like my lamented long lost Invisible Man. but really because they welcome us with our board games and curiosity. and i think the new pool table is free. yes, free. i've become such a lightweight these days that two of his gin and tonics have left me having trouble typing. i won trivial pursuit, of course, but it was actually a contest for a while. might have been faster if my gin-addled brain could come up with Willie Shoemacher at the right time.

because it still amuses me

Daria - Tom and I didn't have sex, and we're not going to any time soon. Unless, of course, a bomb goes off and, as Earth's last two survivors, we must replenish the human race. Although, frankly, that's not motivation enough for me.
(Helen sighs in relief)

(Daria lifts the newspaper high to hide from Helen)
Daria - So instead, we've decided to sublimate our urges by traveling cross-country with a motorcycle gang.
Helen - All right. You just remember to call home on Sunday nights.
Daria - (lowers paper) Hey!
Helen - Ha!

i adored Daria, but we never quite saw eye to eye on the sex thing. Tom was all brilliant and hot at the same time. and i've always been happy with just the brilliant part, hotness as garnish. of course, i think she should have had a bit of a fling with Jane, but i just love Jane's boots. but there are reams of fanfic about all that.
