Incident at Loch Ness
Jun. 11th, 2004 12:13 amtonight began with frustration. i continued to debate up to the last minute if i was going to use my movie ticket tonight and miss a portion of a previously nonexistent extra rehearsal. i drove downtown (so that i could make good time up to the Egyptian from the rehearsal space on 6th) and spent twenty minutes finding parking - nothing left on street, and even Pacific Place was full and had cops directing traffic to let people out. maybe it's like that every day, but i never take the car to rehearsal, so i wouldn't know. so i finally parked under the meridian, and ran uphill to rehearsal and arrived in the middle of warmups, out of breath, with both ears full of snot. i was surprised at how much i was able to sing and really happy with what was being accomplished, but i had to leave before we got to my song :( still, i managed to get some hugs and some extra confidence and run back out the door, get the car, and get up to the theater. i was down the alley, but not all the way to Neighbours, and i ended up with a decent seat in the second row of the back section just right of center.
i didn't realize that we were seeing the world premiere of the film, attended by the director, producer, and several people who appeared in the film. they don't have distribution yet, but i sincerely believe that they will, so no spoilers. it is a documentary about a Werner Herzog film production. it's mostly shot in Scotland. i am now dying to see some of this man's films. i don't know if there's another showing, but it is definitely worth skipping something for. the energy in the house was just perfect tonight...kind of like seeing Alien 3 in a packed house with a broken air conditioner and 100% humidity.i just feel like i was present for something special. this is what i went to the festival to experience.
