some days i do not know if it is what i really think, or some base need to disagree. (then again, it could be that i really am right all the time.)

My wife always accuses me of being contrary. I just like a healthy debate to help form my own view. By nature, I tend to be very skeptical and sit on the fence on a lot of issues. By egging on the popular opinion, it helps me see the broader picture.

Oh, yes. Sometimes it's just fun.

Also, I'm not sure if Llyne's Law of Inverse Perversity applies here, but it might. It goes like this: if you ask me to do something in a way I find annoying, and I tell you I find it annoying but you still don't stop, the more you go on asking me in that way the less likely I am ever to agree, *even if it's something I might well have agreed to of my own accord at some point, if approached differently*.

Sometimes I get stubborned into a corner that way that I'd really have been happier to have avoided, but back down?!? Very, very unlikely.

I'm much more likely to go the other way, and agree outwardly and disagree inwardly, but this stems from what I have come to realize is a fundamental desire that everyone just shut up sometimes. I'm not sure which is more pernicious, really.
