as with everyone who gets an expensive new thing, i am boringly obsessed with home improvements. i'm all about window treatments right now. the condo came outfitted with quality blinds, but they filter more than block light and our facing is south and west. the light is amazing but also about to be blazing hot.

in the great room we got floor-length blackout drapes for the west side, and i'm working on making roman blinds for the south-facing windows. i found this book so i'm making quilt tops for the first time in years. one window is ready to be lined and just waiting for hardware to arrive, second one is mostly cut out.

i found ombre drapes for the bedroom that have greens from the wall mural. it's nice. i feel weird being a person that's excited about how the curtains bring the room together but the curtains really bring the room together.

next is the hobby room - we found ones we liked for the living room, but in general commercial drapes are boring as hell, so i'm making my own drapes with blackjack and hookers. C came with me to pick out the fabric today. that took a while - we both kept trying to get something green again,* and then we kept liking things that there wasn't enough yardage of. i almost came home with only things on the list, but then there were dragons - not enough for the current project but we definitely needed to own the last 3 yards they had.



*great room drapes are forest green. bedroom has a forest mural wall and green curtains. it's my favorite color but i'm trying to not have it everywhere

Those dragons look like they'd be amenable to being framed as central/whatever position gets the spotlight panels in a larger project.

after i posted this i found out that there are kits out there of that dragons fabric line in three different colorways. so as soon as we agree on a color i'm going to order one. or maybe three i'm not usually into panels or printed borders because they're so restrictive but wow

Fandom means never having to feel ashamed of what you love or what makes you happy. Even if that is curtains. We have curtainfic!

Fair enough. My living room is mostly greens and browns, kind of foresty, especially with the plant window.

Maybe look for drapes that have green in them, but some other color dominant? Like watercolor blues, greens, and purples or a naturescape of browns and greens.

we got the dryer (LG) and a new stove (Samsung) not too long after we moved in, and i guess the songs are a Korean thing? the dryer sings when it's done and the stove has a handful of different songs for things like "the oven is up to temp" and "timer's done". the dryer song is an earworm!

for the drapes we ended up with a botanical print that has kind of an Arts and Crafts vibe that has a golden background with red flowers. not as exciting as dragons but it should be cheerful when it's gray in the winter, which is key

Yeah, that sounds Korean.

Botanical prints are pretty. Recently I bought a little mosaic table whose top has jungle leaves.
