i used to think that my answer was "it's a different universe so it doesn't matter".

i really liked Hawkeye the show; i haven't read huge number of Hawkeye comics but do own the whole Fraction/Aja run and have reread it a few times. i was happy to see references and remixes of bits from those and generally enjoyed the smaller stakes and character work of the show.

Ms. Marvel is recent enough that for a while there i was reading every issue as it came out. i've been less into it since G. Willow Wilson left so i'm more than Marvel Unlimited behind on it. but i've definitely read all the issues that were being referenced for the show, and i was unhappy with the adaptation from episode one. like, that was a perfectly cromulent superhero show about a Muslim child of immigrants but it wasn't Kamala, Bruno, or her family as far as i was concerned. it was Nakia and Sheik Abdullah in a show with some other people who live in Jersey City (not that anyone sounded like they came from New Jersey, WTF i'm POSITIVE that every character born in the US in that show would have some measure of joisy in their voice, the setting and its status as an overlooked place is a big part of the feel of the thing...i should write a whole post)

I have not read any Marvel comics ever I think. (Also I haven't seen much of the MCU yet either.)

I feel like you need to watch the Thor movies and Avengers to support your Loki habit. Also I recommend Loki: Agent of Asgard comics for a fun take on Loki that is influenced by the films.

I kind of fear getting into comics (always have) but I am trying to slowly catch up on the MCU at the moment. There is a lot of it!

Wow, I haven't watched any of those. I wonder how many shows it's typical to watch... this year so far I've only watched Severance and Love Death & Robots season 3. As far as watching all the episodes anyway -- I can think of 3 more for which I've seen one episode each.

I haven't read any of the post-80s Marvel or DC comics. That said, I really enjoyed Hawkeye. It had some grit to it and also conveyed some accurate emotional points on getting older.

Moon Knight and Loki were pure escape for me. Because I have so little knowledge of the MCU, I tend to gravitate to stories like these that can stand alone (I have seen a couple of things with Thor and know the myths so I have a toehold with Loki).

I've just started with Ms Marvel but I like what I've seen. It also has gotten strong approval from my Muslim poet friends. I followed a fascinating discussion in one thread about the portrayal of the character's parents. Reactions seemed to be split between those who grew up out of the US and those whose parents were immigrants on whether it was mostly accurate. I've only watched one episode so far so I don't really have an opinion.

My favorite thing about it was that when dude took a hit, he stayed injured. I so appreciated him sitting there with frozen bags of peas taped to him. I know those feels, bro.
