i liked it. clean staging, effective set, nice ensemble work. a few actors were racing through their lines, but i forgave them because they had a superior Elbow, and i consider low characters to be a greater problem than knotty motivations. couldn't solve that final marriage proposal though; had to take the "she's thinking about it" cop-out ending, but i expected that. i think the key is that there has to be chemistry between Isabella and the Duke throughout the play, and then a nonverbal benediction from the clergy for her to end her novitiate. still pat. but Old Bill knew it - there's that bit at the end of Love's Labours' about how comedies are supposed to end with a wedding; perhaps the elizabethan equivalent of Richard Gere hangin out the sunroof with roses.
me, i still love my brother more than my honor.
frabjousdave extended me his subscriber discount, so i got to see the late-nite cabaret, which was delightful, funny, and obviously a blast for cast and crew. i'm ready for Lear, which is one of my favorites.
they had two ADs on the show. i'll be researching that. and i came in the door and C told me he was ready to come down and see what happened to me (should have called), but then he patted me on the head and told me to go get online. damn, i think he's a keeper :)
