one good thing

one good result from the pandemic is home testing kits. I was overdue for a routine pelvic exam but I'm not into going to the doctor if I don't have to right now. so they sent me a test kit and a postage-paid return box. I swabbed myself, mailed it, got the results in email tonight, easy-peasy.

Have to wonder why that wasn't already the norm.

Since Corona hit my psychiatrist is suddenly able to email my GP to get my presciption changed, whereas before it was necessary for me to carry a bit of paper across town (total of three buses) and physically hand the note in at the GP surgery. I'm like "why the shit weren't you just doing this before?"

I've been doing mostly virtual doctor's visits during the pandemic. It's been surprisingly easy for the most part since a lot of the things I need to relate just involve a conversation. With my recent pain issues, I have been physically going to the doctor, but only for such things that require physical touch. I'm now quite fond of virtual visits for things I don't need to physically be at the office for. Usually we just discuss results of blood tests, etc.

I suspect this will be used more even when the pandemic subsides. (Whenever that is)
