we started getting AT&T TV (it's streaming cable channels) this year. one of the reasons was to support things we like by paying for them.
today i learned that the DVR part of the service only holds content for 90 days and my carefully hoarded shows to watch when i felt ready have been silently disappearing. cue still-relevant xkcd

We use the DVR for everything but most of it gets watched within 2-3 weeks. The exception is Mike's programming which he's been known to keep on the DVR for 6 months or more. So he's had to pick and choose what to see -- early on he had recorded a lot of golden era films from TMC, but he never got around to most of them. He'd planned to run some while he worked but it turns out our Internet provider has also dinged us with going over our usage cap if we stream stuff continuously so that's pretty much out the window anyway.
