34/366 1.25, 1.5, 1.75, 2
Feb. 3rd, 2020 10:28 pmi don't like video learning because it takes so much longer than reading.* for technical material i will take a written tutorial with photos or screenshots over a video every time.
taking a flipped class is forcing me to deal with more video than i like. somehow it's fine to be in a lecture for 60 - 90 minutes, but watching a video lecture that long feels like eternity. fortunately, youtube understands my needs.
tonight i started out the lecture at normal speed. then 1.25, then 1.5, then 1.75. being able to crank up the speed as i got impatient helped me feel more in control. (maybe that's why i hate video learning, not just the general feeling of slowness, but when i read i can speed through things i get and slow down when i need to concentrate.) i also had additional videos to watch that were taught by a nice young man from the US south. i just started him at 2x.
i wish i could get by on just the reading, but there's always info in the instructor's lecture that isn't written anywhere.
*for me. i understand that other people don't have this experience.

It's okay that people learn in different ways, and increased accessibility means more people can learn.
