i saw a preview of Joker today.
it's clear the filmmakers loved some 1970s classics; the cinematography, costuming, and art direction are top-notch. the craft is excellent overall and Joaquin Phoenix will get an Oscar nomination. he deserves it.
i don't need to ever see it again and i'm not sure who i would actually recommend this to - it's brutal, graphic, and depressingly grounded.
if you saw The Dark Knight and said, I wish it was WAY DARKER and also more quiet and depressing but with more murders, then you should git you some.
