Yes, but not the Barbie of my childhood - all of her joints move and her right hand is curled to hold the sonic instead of being flat with a peg hole or loop to attach it. She's also a more athletic body shape.
she does! elbows and wrists both. (you're the reason i was aware enough of
her to tell C about her. thank you.)
maybe you can answer some questions i was wondering about - her hair seems
to be stuck together, like it's coated in gel. is that just the way it is,
or is that a coating to make her look nice in the box? should i wash her
hair or will it just turn into a puffball?
also, she had little plastic tabs in her head holding her to the box (kind
of like the ones that hold tags on new clothes). i cut her loose but i can
still feel the ends sticking out of the back of her head. when i was a kid
i took Barbie's head off all the time to dress her and whatnot. is that
still a harmless activity with this body? i'd really like to fish those
plastic bits out.
let me know if you would like to see pictures of anything for your costume
project.
It's hard to get the heads off an on again properly, they're not really meant to be removed (I sometimes head-swap Barbies but it involves a steaming kettle, a lot of struggling, and fervently hoping that I don't break anything on the neck joint). They do put gel stuff on the hair to make it sit nice in the box, a lot of people wash that off and as long as the hair's sitting correctly while it dries you should be okay. (I wet and cut a Barbie's hair for my "custom" 12 doll and I combed it while wet to make it sit properly.) And let it air-dry, you don't want to melt her hair lol!
I HATE those plastic head tabs! I saw someone on YouTube claim they drop away if you get it out of the box correctly but I always just have to cut them as close as possible against the head. Try pushing them in maybe?
They do! C said his first attempt was sold out and he had to join a waiting list. According to the box there are only 20,000 of them, which seems like a lot to me but probably isn't. I've already destroyed the collector's value by unboxing and hugging her.
