Saturday is the new Monday Media?
Dec. 2nd, 2017 12:07 amso, i had this ready to post on Monday but apparently the act of writing a text file is equivalent to posting in my mind...
what are you currently consuming?
Runaways - I watched the first three episodes, and it was meh. it moves way slower than the comics and i'm not sure that i like the changes they made. look, we're three episodes in and no one has run away.
we started watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine yesterday, since i was curious about other Michael Schur shows after enjoying The Good Place and i can't get into Parks and Recreation in spite of multiple tries. i've seen a lot of the first season now, and i like it pretty well. i mean, it's a basic workplace sitcom and it doesn't have the wild brilliance of a 30 Rock (or at least not at the point i've seen) but the precinct captain is SO DRY. i keep watching for him and the delightfully stoic Rosa. i expect it's going to be our background noise for a while.
what did you recently finish?
it's midseason hiatus time for stuff that i'm watching: The Good Place,Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Jane the Virgin, and Star Wars Rebels. i'm digging all of them and sad about the holiday break.
Friday edit:
Crisis on Earth-X. lots of good there - probably the best of the superflarrowverse crossover events. great action, nice queer representation. two issues: there wasn't enough Wally (i'm really annoyed at how they're handling Wally and feel bad for Keinan Lonsdale who is the hugest Flash fan), and THIS spoilery thing that happened IS WHY I DON'T WATCH ARROW, YOU STAR CITY PEOPLE SUCK. okay, then there's this nitpick that is also an elephant in the room: no Jewish character's doppleganger would be alive on Earth-X where the Nazis are in charge. i think not addressing that was a mistake. (other elephant: the statement that there's a Supergirl on every Earth. um, where is Earth-1 Supergirl?)
sorry about the bitching, it was still pretty great; as knitta M said, that was my Justice League movie.
what will you consume next?
i still mean to get back to The Orville and guilty pleasure Riverdale. and i haven't started Stranger Things 2 or The Punisher. in reality i'm going to end up rewatching Stargate SG-1 again because i can and it is soothing (as long as Daniel and O'Neill are there, anyway). Probably more Brooklyn Nine-Nine. AND AGENTS OF SHIELD IS BACK THIS WEEK.
