this is not a hair blog
Nov. 5th, 2017 04:07 pmafter I wrote about getting consistent curls, within two weeks my hair went flat. *sigh*
i was spraying with water any time i passed through the bathroom. i had started using a cream, and my hair was eating it up. I don't know how many times a day I would put a little more on. soft, smelled great, bouncy curl, kept the frizzies away.
and then one morning it was like a switch was flipped and my hair was nearly straight.
change in humidity? hormones? protein OD? (i've had bad results with protein products, and mostly avoid them, but there was a small amount in that new cream I loved so much...)
research lead me to too much moisture. the hell.
i've washed three days in a row, and today after a protein treatment it's close to where it was. I hope I can still keep the cream in my routine. i've never used a product before that felt so nice on my hands in addition to working well and smelling great.
meanwhile, here's the DIY protein treatment recipe; I used 1/2 cup water, about 3 drops of rice vinegar, and a teaspoon of honey blended with an immersion blender. applied for 3 minutes under a cap in a hot shower. since my hair is short there was plenty left over to freeze into blocks for the next time.
