ironymaidentoday i had my first rambutan. they're a relative of the lychee, similar taste and texture, but a funky purple-red on the outside with sort of curly protrusions. apparently they're newly available in the US. when one of my coworkers saw them i thought he was going to cry - he hadn't eaten one in 12 years.
