i finally got time to watch Thin Ice last night. so good. Bill is on her way to becoming my favorite companion of the post-2005 era.

Exactly this. I don't think it's all about being a classic series fan, but that does influence my thinking. I love the teacher/student relationship, and that she still has independence and a conscience.
