end of days

ironymaidenfor some reason all of my entertainment in the past few days has smacked of apocalypse. i've inhaled C's Yule copy of the Watchmen, and watched parts of the Buffy season 7 box, and all of Shawn of the Dead. i'm full of optimism as the days lengthen, but nagged by the odd bit of dread associated with the close of the year.
the Yule season has mostly been good to me (C told them season 6. repeatedly. with emphasis. but they bought 7 anyway. i was pretty okay with it, it was just at the bottom of my list, after 6,3,Firefly, 2, and 1. C was apoplectic. dude, it's the thought. i'm very happy with the thought.) with goodies arriving in the mail and friends opening their homes to the hungry hordes.
i mark Dec. 24 as a special day in Seattle, since i first met many fine people last year at the home of![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
the_monkey_king and shellyinseattle (thanks to frabjousdave for asking "can i bring a date? and her husband?"), including the wondrous scarlettina. i'm amazed to think of the change a year has wrought in our lives. and the non-change - great food, great conversation, stories of far Lake Geneva, and x-box smackdown for all comers.
the 25th was filled with ham (gojfrog78), and ROTK easter eggs, and even a Peep. we had a fine time with mysticalforest and trueunicorness et al at their palatial abode, and played Betrayal at the House on Haunted Hill in what could very well be the best. gameroom. evar. again! again!
Sunday we slept. a lot. and read, and did laundry and such. and here is C, so i'm going home.
