it was such a perfect day today. i can't believe that i spent so much of it inside. shame on me. i did, however, hop off the bus early this evening and ramble down the north (ie less ritzy and more homey) slope of Queen Anne.
i'm back from Sweeney Todd, with wine, women, and meat pies. it only took three months to put scarlettina, varina8, webcowgirl, and me in the same room.
last night i caught up with the wonderful Tara, and we talked about everything from the debates to the location of the prostate while i quilted and she cut fabric. we missed each other terribly during the long goodbye - and now it looks like a job offer might send her off to Virginia. ah well. her husband is being actively pursued, and that's pretty freaking exciting.

Cute Actors

We clearly ahve very similar tastes in theoretical manflesh, 'cept for Pierce Brosnan (too polished) and Bruce Willis. Sean Bean. mmmm! Loved him in the BBC Sharpe's Rifles mini-series. After the Fellowship of the Ring, I wanted to take Boromir home for a good shampoo, and then make him forget all about that damned ring!

But you forgot Jet Li! He's much cuter than Chow Yun Fat! Especially in Hero.

Jet Li is a little boyish for me, even in Hero. i recognize the skills, and he can be quite charming, but Chow Yun Fat is more of a ...man. i hold the image of him rocking a baby amid a hail of bullets in Hard Boiled dear. anyway, the real babe in Hero is Tony Leung.

i admit that Brosnan and Willis are both leftovers from the '80s love of Remington Steele and Moonlighting, neither of which i've had the courage to watch since. i do know however, that the muscle development and motor control required to play harmonica would balance out the conservative babble nicely for Mr Willis.

Jet Li is almost too perfect to be believed, but then, for me that's part of his attraction, even though I generally like my men with a little rougher edged than him.

I suppose if one could keep Bruce Willis's mouth busy with something other than trying to run the world, he would be rather appealing. But the same could be said for many men. But if one is looking for a man who would be wonderful if only you could throw a bag over his personality, I'd prefer Toshiro Mifune. Okay, so Mifune's a little life-impaired these days, but jeez he was absolutely gorgeous when he was young. LIke a Japanese Clark Gable, but with better ears.

Chow Yun Fat is pretty cute too, with or without a baby. But I first saw Jet Li in The Legend of Fong Sai Yuk, a costume drama, and I first saw Chow Yun Fat in one of his modern-day police shoot 'em ups, which leave me kind of cold, and I think that's one reason I prefer Jet Li. Plus, Jet Li does funny pretty well, and that always scores big points with me. Tony Leung is cute, but a little too shaggy/vulnerable for my tastes.
