We saw Alton Brown at the U Bookstore. He is a larger man than I imagined, not fat, but broad shouldered and thick wristed. He's genuinely quickwitted and funny. Conservative inside I think, considering a tossed of comment about the pentagram-wearer in the front row, or maybe just Southern & sheltered.

He answered cooking and not cooking questions and ribbed the events coordinator endlessly for not watching the show - and charging more than Amazon for the book-"it's a local bookstore, right?" He referred to his daughter as hellspawn. I'd marry him, except for the part where he's already married and I'm in love with C who is the key to my existence.

He shook my hand. He stayed until everyone who had a book got them signed and got a question answered. I had the kind of cool brush with a tv personality that's not supposed to happen. (I think it's because he's a techie.)

I paged through the cookbook and was inspired to create. I made chicken w/sherry, brown japanese rice, and thai sweet chili sauce. It was so good for dinner (but not perfect) that C had me do another for lunch tomorrow and it is perfect.

Oh the work day was full of disasters and near disasters, but I don't care anymore.
